1. Climate in China

During spring 2016, the seasonal surface air temperature averaged over China was 11.6°C, with 1.2°C above normal (10.4℃). The mean precipitation was 174.9 mm in China, which was 21.7% more than normal (143.7 mm). For the season, extremes of Daily Temperature Drop (DTD), Consecutive Temperature Drop (CTD), and Daily Precipitation Amount were observed in China.

2. General Circulation Features

Northern Hemisphere: During the spring, in the field of 500hPa geopotential height anomaly, positive anomalies above 4 dam covered form northwestern Russia to northwestern Canada by way of the Arctic Ocean, around Greenland and Japan, Meanwhile, negative anomalies below -4 dam covered the region of middle North Pacific.

Southern Hemisphere: During the spring, in the field of 500hPa geopotential height anomaly, positive anomalies over 4 dam covered around Drake Passage, while negative anomalies below -4 dam covered southeastern Indian Ocean.
