　　中国大陆可以被划分出21个在统计学意义上降水变化相互独立的区域，这21个区域覆盖了中国除西部以及西南部分地区以外的大部分地区。各区域所对应的REOF模态的可以解释各区域平均夏季降水方差的40%-90%。各个区域夏季降水的周期和极端降水年份存在显著不同。
